Lingaa "Audio" planned on Diwali

Superstar Rajinikanth fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the star's film 'Lingaa' directed by KS Ravikumar. The Lingaa team is all set to boost the 'Lingaa' fever among the audience and especially Rajini fans with the audio launch of the film on Diwali. 

With the film looking to hit the screens on the star's birthday on 12th December, the audio launch would be Diwali treat.

 The team currently busy shooting in Shimoga for the film.

Lingaa shooting Proceeding at Linganamakki Dam, Karnataka

The shooting for Rajinikanth magnum opus  Lingaabegan is proceeding near the  Linganamakki reservoir across the Sharavathi in Sagar taluk.

 A set of a Shiva temple has been erected near the reservoir where the scenes are being shot. A few shots were also taken on the premises of the  Forest Department Office located near Jog Falls. Rockline Venkatesh, producer of the movie, had taken permission from the Karnataka Power Corporation to use the premises for shooting till September 30. IBased on a request from Mr. Venkatesh, the Police Department has beefed up security at the reservoir.

British actress Lauren J Irwin is co-starring Rajinikanth in Lingaa. And she is not the only foreign artiste in Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Lingaa.

More actors from abroad are said to be part of 'Linga', since there are some pre-independence scenes which require British faces on screen.

"So, a bunch of actors from the United Kingdom have been roped up for the film. Rajini is playing a Collector in these scenes," 

Director K S Ravikumar and his team are working day and night to catch up the December 12 deadline of 'Linga'.

Sabu Cyril designs Steam Engine for Rajinikanth

For the pre-independence scenes in 'Linga', in which the Superstar Rajinikanth plays a Collector, the team required a train run by steam engine.

"The team members searched in many places and enquired Railway officials for real steam engine. However, their attempts did not bear fruits," sources say.

Following this, art director Sabu Cyril jumped into action and recreated a steam engine with compartments and tracks at the Hyderabad studio, where the film is being shot currently.

"From Rajini to director K S Ravikumar to producer Rockline Venkatesh, everyone was stunned by the steam engine set and they lauded Sabu Cyril a lot," sources add.

British Actress Co-stars Super Star Rajinikanth

British actress Lauren J Irwin is making her debut in Indian movies with Superstar Rajinikanth in Lingaa, directed by KS Ravikumar. The young actress, singer and dancer has acted in plays in London's West End such as Annie and Oliver. Her role in 'Lingaa' comes in the portion set in Pre-Independence era.

Lauren has been shooting in Mysore along with the crew and has been enjoying her stay in India. Talking about her experience of working with Rajinikanth, she said "He is a very nice, down to earth man. Very welcoming & a fantastic actor!"

Sharing her memorable moment, she said, "After I shot my first scene & he came over to say that it was really good. He was very welcoming & supportive & a really nice man!"

The team ‘Lingaa’ is shooting in Shimoga and this schedule is said to be the final schedule with 80% of the shooting getting completed already.  To take part in the shoot Rajini landed in the Mangarlore Airport last week. 

Rajini is seen to have visited the Thirthahalli Rameshwara temple to offer his prayers for the successful and smooth completion of the schedule before starting it.

The schedule has been planned for 40 days and Superstar Rajinikanth will take part in it for 21 days. Recently a song between Rajini and the film’s heroine Sonakshi Sinha was shot in the Jog waterfalls near Shimoga.

A little farther to the waterfalls a grand set has been erected. A Lord Shiva statue with a height of 40 feet has been kept near that. In the last day of shoot the scenes of the dam will be burst and scenes of flood gushing inside the city will be shot. To plan and execute these scenes a team of Hollywood technicians have arrived.

More than 3,000 people are reportedly taking part in ‘Lingaa’ shoot every day. Just to cook food for the team nearly 100 staff are appointed they say. Though fans throng in to have a glimpse of the Superstar they are being stopped at a distance and the shooting is going on with heavy Police protection. A team of 100 policemen headed by Jog Inspector Keerthi Kumar and also 50 private security staff are guarding the shooting site of ‘Lingaa’ and its crew members

Sonakshi to play Super Grandma to Super Star

Sonakshi Sinha  will be seen in a role of a grandmother of one of the  characters played by Rajnikanth in her debut Tamil movie 'Lingaa'.

In the movie Rajnikanth would be seen in a dual role. One of the role would be opposite Sonakshi another one will be his royal son who returns to take over his family operations after completing studies in abroad. Anushka Shetty is cast opposite the younger Rajinikanth

The film's director Ravikumar too thought that she is well suited to enact the role of the girl from the 40s,

“Very few people in the industry get an opportunity to do a film with Rajinikanth. If I had to make a debut in South, it had to be something as big as this. I can’t wait to begin shooting for him in May,” Sonakshi said in an interview with the daily.

Rajinikanth confirms on Lingaa and hints on politics

Superstar Rajinikanth, who is currently busy shooting for Tamil film 'Lingaa', recently visited Mangalore for the shoot. The star actor was also surrounded by the media when he reached the Mangalore airport along with the film's producer Rockline Venkatesh.

When quizzed on the release on KS Ravikumar directed 'Lingaa', Rajinikanth confirmed that 'Lingaa' will release on December 12, as his birthday treat to his fans and the whole team is trying to finish the movie soon. Directed by K.S. Ravikumar, ' Lingaa' has Rajinikanth and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead with Jagapathi Babu in an important role, while AR Rahman is composing the tunes for the movie.

Answering to an often repeated question on him entering politics, Rajnikanth said, he will do that if God wishes so. Apparently when a reporter asked about what is his wish, he said, "God's wish is my wish".

The film's shoot is more than 80% complete and the final schedule of 21 days has been planned in Mangalore.

Rajnikanth 'Lingaa' schedule update

The Hyderabad schedule of KS Ravikumar's 'Lingaa' is coming to an end and with this, the Superstar is leaving the city, packing off back to Chennai. Today is the last day of shoot at Hyderabad for the 'Lingaa' team and the crew will roll their camera near Radisson Hotel in the city, with Anushka in the frame. After wrapping up all shooting in Hyderabad, the team will take a casual break for two days and almost immediately start work in Chennai.

One of the interesting aspects of the film is that it portrays Rajini in two roles, one of which is a thief. Written by Pon Kumaran and directed by KS Ravikumar, 'Lingaa' stars Rajinikanth, Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles and has music by AR Rahman.

Rajini’s Linga deals with a controversial issue?

It is said that the Superstar Rajinikanth’s Linga is about the controversial Mullai Periyar Dam issue and his role is inspired by the British engineer who had build it. However, there is no official confirmation on this.

Directed by KS Ravi Kumar, Linga is produced by Rockline Venkatesh. The shooting of this film is progressing at a brisk pace in Karnataka.

Rajinikanth plays dual roles in this movie and has two heroines – Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka – to pair up with. AR Rahman is scoring the music for Linga.

Fans throng Chamundi Hills for a glimpse of Rajinikanth

Chamundi Hills in Mysore, which is filled with pilgrims from the crack of dawn, had a different crowd on Friday. For, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, who is camping in the region to shoot for the film Linga , visited the temple.

Mr. Rajinikanth’s fans had been waiting at the temple from 4 a.m. to catch a glimpse of the superstar, who offered prayers to Sri Chamundeshwari and Lord Ganapathi.

Mr. Rajinikanth, clad in silk dhoti and shirt, reached the temple around 4 a.m., accompanied by Kannada film star and Minister for Housing M.H. Ambarish and his wife, Sumalatha.

After they offered prayers, the ‘muhurat’ shot of the Tamil movie was filmed opposite the temple.

Mr. Ambarish told presspersons that Mr. Rajinikanth was a popular actor and had fans all over the world and it was a matter of pride that Rockline Venkatesh of Karnataka was producing the film.

The film, being directed by K.S. Ravikumar, will be shot in parts of Mandya and Kerala, according to Mr. Venkatesh.

Deputy Director of the Palace Board T.S. Subramanyam refuted reports that permission was denied to shoot the film at the Mysore palace.

Media's Silence on Lingaa

If reports are to be believed media has been restricted from writing and reporting anything related to superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming Tamil film, Lingaa. The cast and crew of the film were camped in Mysore few days ago (perhaps they are still there). A major portion of the film has been shot in Mysore.

It is the producer of the film Rockline Venkatesh, who obtained a court stay against media to report on the film. The filmmakers fear that if media reports about the film, others might copy the film's content.

The film also stars Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka Shetty and Jagapathy Babu is lead roles. The film will have music by A R Rahman.

Rajinikanth's Linga in trouble?

Rajinikanth who is busy shooting for KS Ravikumar directing Lingaa in a set erected at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, faced allegations from the local villagers. Local residents of Anajpur, a Village in Rangareddy, Telangana asserted in the sets of Rajinikanth's Lingaa and tried to stop shooting, stating that the waste materials and chemicals used in erecting sets are being mixed in the nearby lake, which is resulting in water pollution. 

Later, filmmakers have sought the issue by getting required permissions from the irrigation department and village Panchayat as well. It is also reported that it was the same villagers who tried to stop the shooting of Mahaabali directed by Rajamouli with Prabhas, Rana, Anushka, Tamanna and many others.

Rajinikanth plays dual avatar in ‘Lingaa’

The superstar will be playing a district collector, as well as an unknown role in a flashback sequence.

Superstar Rajinikanth, who is currently busy shooting for Tamil action movie ‘Lingaa’, will reportedly be seen in dual avatar in the film. He will be playing a district collector, as well as an unknown role in a flashback sequence.

“Rajini sir is playing double role in the film. He plays a district collector in the present day of the story, while he will be seen in a different role in the flashback sequence. The filmmakers have kept it a secret,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

Rajinikanth and the rest of the crew are currently shooting in Hyderabad. Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has been selected to play the leading lady.

Directed by K. S. Ravikumar, ‘Lingaa’ also features Jagapathi Babu in an important role. Meanwhile, A. R. Rahman is composing the film’s music.

Tamil legend Rajinikanth shoots for ‘Lingaa’

Post the release of ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ Superstar Rajinikanth is busy shooting for his next film ‘Lingaa’ at Ramoji Film city in Hyderabad. The ‘mahurat’ shot of the movie was shot in May this year at Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysore.

The shooting for the film is going on in full swing at Ramoji Film city since this morning with Rajinikanth and it will go on till evening. The 63-year-old actor looked fresh and fit in a get-up of a young man while shooting scenes for the movie.

Apparently, the film has been named after Rajinikanth’s grandson Linga, who is the son of actor Dhanush and Rajinikanth’s elder daughter Aishwaryaa R Dhanush.

After romancing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in ‘Robot’ and Deepika Padukone in ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, the superstar will be seen opposite Sonakshi Sinha in ‘Lingaa’. The film spans across generations and has music by A R Rahman.

‘Lingaa’ is being directed by K S Ravikumar. The film features Rajinikanth, Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles.

Rejuvenated Rajini Starts Shoot for Lingaa

If anyone had caught a sight of Rajinikanth at the traditional pre-shoot Pooja for his next film Lingaa, they would have been astounded. Looking fresh, young and supremely fit, the Superstar arrived bright and early for the Pooja at the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysore on Friday.

Sources close to the film unit said that a shot for the film will be canned in the next two days involving bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, “Sonakshi will arrive in Mysore on Saturday and will begin sgooting right away. Rajini is looking extremely fit and looked exactly like he did in movies like Raja Chinna Roja, that were shot two decades ago,” said the source.

Neither Sonakshi Sinha nor Anushka Shetty were present for the auspicious start, but producer Rockline Venkatesh and director K S Ravikumar were present along with Rajini’s friend and well-wisher, actor Ambareesh.

The reason that Lingaa’s mahurat was held at the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysore is because an extensive portion of the shoot is to be done at the Chamundi Hills as well as the Mysore Palace. It is rumoured that this comprises the ‘period’ section of the film - that has Rajini and Sonakshi playing 40’s style people - while the contemporary portions will be shot with Anushka Shetty in Tamil Nadu and Andhra. Rumours that they were denied to shoot at the Palace were unconfirmed, 

Rajini's next with KS Ravikumar titled Lingaa

It looks like the work on Superstar Rajinikanth's next project with director KS Ravikumar will begin even before his upcoming film Kochadaiyaan hits screens on May 9. The shoot for the film is expected to begin tomorrow, that too in Mysore. Sonakshi Sinha, who makes her Kollywood debut with the project, will be seen opposite the Superstar in the first schedule.

Interestingly, the film has been titled Lingaa, which happens to be the name of his grandson. (daughter Aishwarya and son-in-law Dhanush's second son Linga).Rajinikanth plays a dual role in the film. We hear that Sonakshi will play the love interest of Rajinikanth's character in the period role, while Anushka will pair up opposite the younger Rajini. Rahman will score the music for the film.
